Zakariyya al-Ansari was chief judge in Egypt and authored widely read Shafi'i manuals. Traditional biographies list him among jurists who were also masters of spiritual path (tasawwuf).
He exemplifies the mainstream Sunni pattern that law and purification of the heart went together.
